The Tapestry Couch

A collaborative social design project working with various communities of people seeking refuge and asylum in Australia to weave their stories into this Tapestry Couch! The scene shows stories of friendship and healing people have experienced at The Friendship Garden in Auburn, a community garden initiated by Settlement Services International. Myself, Jane Theau and master Afgan tapestry artist Sayd Shah Mahmood have sat with the community every fortnight for a year, around 200 from all across the world have contributed to making the tapestry and timber frame which we built from recycled Oregon.
